Ariose can’t hear me

Check that microphone access is on: open your iPhone’s Settings, find Ariose (under Apps on iOS 18 and later), and turn on Microphone. Then try an open vowel like “ah” or “oo” at a comfortable volume. Lip trills and breathy sounds are harder to read.

The feedback says I’m off when I’m not

• Use headphones. Through the speaker, the microphone can hear the piano as well as you.
• Find a quiet room. Background noise makes readings patchy.
• Sing where it’s comfortable. Singing an octave above or below the piano is fine. If a drill feels too high or low, change its starting key in the drill’s settings.
• Some sounds show a trace without a score. Slides and straw sounds draw your pitch line but don’t give a percentage, because a moving or muffled sound can’t be scored fairly.

Using AirPods or Bluetooth headphones

Bluetooth adds a little delay, and when your AirPods’ microphone is in use, iOS plays sound through them too. For the cleanest readings, open Audio devices in a drill’s settings, choose the iPhone microphone, then pick your AirPods for output.

Turning off reminders

Open your iPhone’s Settings, tap Notifications, then Ariose.

Everything Ariose stores lives on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes it. See the privacy policy for details.
